Vinod Maroli
Vinod Maroli is a visionary thinker a dedicated environmentalist. His goal of integrating renewable energy technologies with gas to reduce costs and increase energy efficiency spans over 3 decades. He was initially inspired by his father’s suggestion and started his business of gas stove service & repair as a subsidiary to Venus Gas Service (VGS) ,an Indian Oil Corporation Limited distributorship since 1972.
In 1985 there was a focused drive by the Oil companies to convert commercial establishments to gas from other fuel sources for cooking. In the same year he started Venus Gas Appliances a partnership firm to carry out LPG pipeline installation for commercial & industrial establishments. Soon he was able to grow Venus Gas Appliances to one of the biggest firms with operation covering south India. In 1989 Elf Gas (A French Multinational) offered packed gas distributorship. Simultaneously he was trained in Paris on gas engineering and retail business. Venus signed up with Magnol a French gas meter manufacturer to represent the French company’s interest in India.
Venus Gas Appliances got an opportunity of getting into process piping at The Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) in the year 1990. This provided Mr. Maroli the experience of working on a large project in field conditions under the watchful supervision of EIL and Toyo Engineering and gaining experience in process piping, hydrocarbon storage systems, petroleum and explosive safety etc. Being involved in the 1 st & 2nd phase of the project VGPSPL worked closely with engineers of Toyo Engineering & Engineers India Limited (EIL) until 2004, a good 14 years.
In 2006 Vinod Maroli started Venus Gas Products & Services (Mysore) Pvt Ltd (VGPSPL) with the single minded objective to integrate gas with Renewables in order to fit into the future. Over the past years VGPSPL has innovated to develop unique products & solutions and establish POC’s. In 2007 the residential model of gas delivery system to handle cooking, water heating & power generation was installed by VGPSPL to establish POC for zero power outage impacts and the system is still performing well.
In 2008 VGPSPL designed and delivered a low pressure gas delivery system (reticulated gas) with gaspros® gas meters for Brigade Metropolis project involving about 1218 homes.
In 2013 under the innovative leadership of Vinod Maroli the gas showroom ,Venus Gas Services was renovated to became the first green LPG showroom in the country and was inaugurated by the then Chairman of IOCL. In 2014 Mandara a green residential project was completed and VGPSPL provided the grid alternate EW&W management solutions POC.
In 2014 for a 2 year term Venus Gas was nominated to the Chairman’s advisory panel of Indian Oil Corporation Limited ( A fortune 500 company) represented by Vinod Maroli .In 2014 Vinod Maroli was invited into IGBC and its Executive Council (EC). In 2015 owing to the path breaking work of VGPSPL, Gas was included in the IGBC rating system under the head Innovation.
In 2015 VGPSPL introduced GASH (gas assisted solar hybrid) hot water systems and installed POC. In 2016 the first zero energy 50 kg gaspros® WTRR (waste treatment & resource recovery) system was installed at RBI Bangalore to treat kitchen and food waste POC. The resources recovered are Biogas and bio fertilizer. The biogas mitigates LPG use and bio fertilizer mitigates use of paid fertilizer. In 2016 in partnership with NIE as the institution partner VGPSPL took up a project of mixing and blending biogas with LPG in small volumes which has been successful and is patent pending.
In 2018 VGPSPL installed and commissioned the gas delivery system with smart gaspros® prepaid gas metering for a housing project of 160 homes by Foundation (POC for smart metering).
In 2018 the zero energy scalable gaspros® septic tank WTRR system was installed in a farmhouse to establish POC for zero waste discharge buildings. In 2018 Vinod Maroli was honored with the IGBC Fellow.
Responding to the call of the hour, in 2021 the off grid pay and use hot water system design was conceived for 24 hour hot water systems ideal for the emerging new informal hospitality segment of homestays, doms and guest houses, field trails are on. Work is in progress for development of pay & use low carbon energy systems of 2,3,4 & 5 KW capacities for the residential segment.
In 2025 January Vinod Maroli takes on the responsibility of IGBC Chairmanship. In the coming year VGPSPL is poised to roll out comprehensive ,smart, customized, decentralized & scalable grid alternate Energy, Waste & Water (EW&W) management interventions that are innovate, smart, reliable & resilient under the low carbon brand gaspros® as below.

Mr. Vinod Maroli continues to pursue his passion to develop climate resilience technologies for a more sustainable world. He is a graduate of Banumiah College in Mysore, where he currently lives with his family.
