Project Overview
The Dream of Rampura
Driven by Krishna Prasad K’s wish to reconnect with his family deity and heritage, the vision was to:
- Make Rampura a fully organic village
- Create market access for organic produce
- Introduce agri-tourism to share rural life with urbanites
- Generate employment and keep wealth within the community
Rampura:
- Near Srirangapatna, Karnataka
- ~210 homes, 1200 population, 500 cattle heads
- Main crops: Sugarcane, banana, areca
- Now transitioning toward a regenerative, net-zero model
Interventions & Innovations
Circular Solutions for Energy, Waste & Water
GasPros® designed and implemented a range of decentralized, zero-energy systems
- Biological Waste Treatment (WTRR):
- Converts kitchen & animal waste into organic manure and biogas
- Up to 500 kg/day waste treated; ~13,000 kg organic manure produced daily
- Modular units installable in 2 days, even on rooftops
- Biogas Innovations:
- Biogas engines power fodder chopping & processing
- Biogas heaters for water and space heating
- Jaggery production using biogas, reducing carbon from bagasse burning
- Heat Island Mitigation:
- Rooftop greening with aquaponics/hydroponics to lower heat gain
- Increased tree and green cover reduces ambient temperature by ~2–3°C
- Rainwater Harvesting:
- Captures up to 1 lakh liters daily
- Recharges soil moisture and groundwater, boosting plant growth
- Utilities & Safety:
- Solar lighting with sensors for streets and alleys
- Pressure washers powered by LPG for goshala & processing hygiene
